Distance vs. time graph Lesson

Position over time

It is often very difficult for students to interpret and understand graphs that display the distance between two object over time.
A distance vs time graph measures how far two objects are from each other. Often these graphs are used to show the journey that someone makes from home to school and back etc.. To better understand how these graphs work, feel free to use our interactive programs that allow you to create your own distance vs time graphs:
Below is a scaled down version of the interactive time vs. distance labs. See links below for full discription of all of the full versions (all are free)
The program below requires a recent version of Adobe Flash player, if you see a flashing screen, you must update your Flash player.

Distance vs. Time Acivities!
  • Distance vs. Time Graph Activity An interactive program, explore the relationship between distance and time as you move the ship across the screen produce a distance vs time graph. Explore in real time!!
  • **Interactive Partners Activity**(popular activity) In this interactive distance vs time lab,two people explore distance vs time in real time! Player 1 moves ship across screen creating the first graph, and player two tries to recreate that graph by moving a second ship across the same screen.
  • Lab 1 In this distance vs. time lab, your objective is to move the ship across the screen and reproduce the distance time graph that has already been created. Try it and watch your progress in real time!
